Introduction

How well do you know your neighbour?

How safe are we in the neighbourhood?

Our busy schedule and routine does not allow us to spend time with out neighbours and friends whom we see everyday. This lack of social attachment and responsibility towards our community puts at stake our life and safety. We are left helpless, anxious and complete lack of freedom when someone encroaches our neighbourhood.

We, residents of R. P. C. Layout have ganged up against thefts and robberies and have created a community called 'Paraspara' - a neighbourhood watch program. As a first step some of the community members have met, spoke and shared telephone numbers. We came up with goals and activities regarding the watch program.

Our Goals:

  • Saying 'Hi' to your neighbour.
  • Being in communication with your neighbour.
  • To keep a lookout for strangers in the vicinity of our neighbourhood.
  • To build a good rapport with the police.
  • To hold frequent get togethers on occasions like festivals, holidays etc.

Let us make Bengalooru safe and a better place to live in.

One Community - One World

Congratulations Suma, on creating a blog like this one.
it's indeed a essential for all of us to know - atleast how our neighbours look like, if not knowing everything about them.
everyday we read in the newspapers about the robberies, murders etc. and thank God that that didn't happen at our neighbourhood. but imagine, the place where all those happen would have been someone's neighbourhood also, right? why won't that place be our neigherborhood one day?
how about having all our neighbours standing by us and we do the same for all of them, then there won't be such instances in the future. or atleast, for that matter, we shall live with certainity that some one will be there for us.
good job done. let's all know our neighbours well.
remeber, they think just like we think. they need us as much as we need them.

Hi,
Well really love the idea put up here. No doubts that problems are occuring at the same places again and again. And the main reason behind the recurrence is Negligence towards unity of the people in such areas.
Hope Paraspara gets a lot of support in there endeavour....

Suma, Having lived in RPC Layout some years back, I cannot emphasize enough, how important this initiative is and how fruitful this can become. This will certainly improve security in the area, and this has the potential to bring development to this area by giving one voice to the whole RPC Layout community. Kudos to you, Suma, for taking this on.

- Jay.

Good job Suma! I am sure everyone in the area will welcome this initiative. You may want to divide the RPC layout area into smaller, less unwieldy parts for the program...Best wishes!

The first point that you put up was really profound. Got me thinking.

Nice to know you're doing this. Hope you can sustain this effort of yours for long.

Cheers.
